About Holy Name Primary School Forster

Church Find welcomes Holy Name Primary School Forster in Forster, who are engaged in a revitalisation journey enriching the community, for all their latest times and information including times.

Holy Name Primary is a Catholic primary school catering to children from Kindergarten to Year 6 in the Forster Tuncurry Parish.

Holy Name primary school was opened in 1961 as a result of the combined efforts of Father Bernascone and Father Linehan, the Sisters of St. Joseph and members of the Parish Community. The first principal of the school was Sister Mary Francesca.

Since that time the school has grown from an initial population of 35 to its present enrolment.

The school was founded on the strength of the Catholic Community's belief in the value of Catholic education and the vital role the Catholic school plays in the mission of the Church. This link between school and parish remains as strong today.

The complimentary relationship between school and parish is highlighted by the philosophical link that exists between the schools' motto of "Concern for Others" and the concept of "Unity in Christ" which is presented in the parish logo.

The strengthening of community spirit and unity in Christ is fostered and complemented by the development of genuine Christian concern for the welfare of others. The staff of Holy Name School, Forster is unanimous in its belief that parents are the prime educators of their children and is committed to the ideal of supporting, and building onto the foundations that the parents have formed.

Due to the size of the school, it is possible to create and develop a strong community spirit in which both the teachers and the children share their journey of faith. The staff hopes, that by its own example, it can hand on the faith, promote a strong sense of human dignity, and create an atmosphere in which everyone in the school community can reach their full potential.

The parents of the school community are most supportive of the school and happy with the way it functions. The Parents and Friends' Association is a prominent body in the school community. Its members are hard-working and, as well as bringing educational issues to the fore, raise a lot of money which is used to purchase resources for the school. Parents are involved in the school in many other ways, including assisting with library, reading, music, craft and canteen. Without a doubt Holy Name School would have to be the best school in the Manning Region!!
