  As a student who attended this school in Year 7 and 8, it was an okay school. The facilities were phenomenal, though. However, being a non-Christian limited my opportunities at this school in many things, e.g. leadership positions. Often, the teachers didn't even know the content they were "teaching" and relied on students like myself to help them. Many high achievers learnt next to zero in classes and the teachers failed to cater for their high academic level. There are some teachers who turn a Health class, for example, into a Christian Studies class as soon as they open their mouths (many of these teachers have completely disrespected other cultures, religions and traditions!) . There are teachers who speak of "acting in love and kindness" and do the complete opposite. Most of the teachers at Hillcrest are completely unapproachable and their attitude towards the students is very poor and not very loving and kind as they tell us to be (they're certainly not practicing what they preach!). To add on to all of this, some uniform rules they have are so ridiculous and set feminism back 200 years! These rules include "girls must have knee-high socks" and "girls' dresses must touch the floor when kneeling down". I felt like the school focuses more on Christianity and religious education than actual education. If you want your child to learn and grow in a Christian environment this school is definitely for you. However, if you're not Christian I would not recommend this school. Just a side note, Presentation Night when students are recognised and get awards for their hard work and achievements is a terrible time for the Head of College to ramble on about your 20 year plan. (Just something you may want to consider, HCC!)
